Wild Black Walnut Specimen Necklace (Juglans nigra) | Copper Electroformed Pendant

Wild Black Walnut Specimen Necklace (Juglans nigra) | Copper Electroformed Pendant

$72.00
This listing is for one pendant made with a real wild walnut shell from the species Juglans nigra (black walnut).

I gathered the black walnut shell specimen, formed and added the bail, and used a process called electroforming to encase the shell in pure copper -- an electrochemical process that often takes over 12 hours to form. I then applied a dark patina, polished, and added black and cream-colored glass accent beads reminiscent of the black walnut's colors and a copper tag I hand-stamped with the specimen's botanical name.

This pendant includes a 26" antique-finished chain with a hook-and-eye clasp. If you would like an adjustable hypoallergenic nylon cord instead, please message me when placing your order and I will be happy to swap them out for you. I also offer 20" rose gold-plated sterling silver chain necklaces in my shop: https://www.etsy.com/listing/666297460

Please remember that metals, including copper, will naturally oxidize and change color over time and with everyday weathering and wear. I have not treated this pendant with a sealant over the metal in order to maintain a natural look and feel - let me know if you would prefer your purchase to be sealed and I can do so before it is shipped (this may delay shipping 2-4 days for the sealant to have adequate curing time). Included with each order is a small jeweler's cloth to have the option to polish later if needed.
